As CTO of The Seattle Times, I am responsible for driving the direction of technology adoption in all aspects of the business.
Our primary products for our readers include publishing a daily print paper and “digital now” publishing of our digital product offering www.seattletimes.com as well as multiple online applications and digital content feeds which are used by other publishing entities.
As a publishing company, we operate multiple business models within a single company: journalism, manufacturing a paper, distributing a paper, single copy retail sales, online publishing, advertising sales, community events and most important to this conference – a subscription model for recurring revenue.
The publishing industry, particularly print newspaper, is heavily disrupted. I believe technology enablement, such as with Zuora, is the path to a new economy in publishing, positioning us to combat and overcome this disruption.
