ZEO Jennifer Pileggi named a “Most Influential Woman in Bay Area Business 2018” by San Francisco Business Times

We are so pleased to announce that Jennifer Pileggi, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Zuora has earned another prestigious award…the San Francisco Business Times has named her one of its Most Influential Women in Business for 2018.

And we agree!

The annual Most Influential Women in Business publication celebrates about 130 women business leaders in real estate, law, tech, finance, health care and many other industries. These women work in diverse fields, but all share a passion for what they do. They are leaders in their organizations and their communities.

We always love to see our ZEOs getting recognized for their extraordinary work and achievements. We are especially proud to see Jennifer take her well-deserved spot amongst this group of amazing Bay Area women leaders.

Here’s a bit more about Jennifer in her own words (you can also read her full SF Business Times profile here):

Community involvement
Since 2016, I’ve served on the advisory board of Ironclad Inc., a maker of contract management software for legal teams, and have been a member of the General Counsel Executive Advisory Council, Association of Corporate Counsel (Bay Area chapter) since 2010; I’m also on the Marketing Advisors & Ambassadors Committee of DirectWomen, an organization whose mission is to increase the representation of women lawyers on corporate boards.

Proudest professional accomplishment
Building a world-class legal team at Zuora and helping to prepare for its IPO. I joined Zuora’s executive management team as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary in June 2015. This was a critical time for the company to mature its business operations, as it had close to 600 employees and 600 customers without a global legal team. Three years later, I’ve built a team of 12 to support our more than 1,000 employees and 900-plus customers across 12 countries.

Best inspirational mentor
I never really had a mentor until I’d been out of law school for almost 15 years and had been promoted into the role of general counsel at a large public transportation and supply chain management company. The person who selected me for that role was the company’s board chairman at the time. I learned a tremendous amount from him about how to be a leader, how to develop a team, and how to inspire people at all levels. He saw something in me – that I wasn’t a typical lawyers’ lawyer, that I always aimed to be a true business partner, and he encouraged me to trust my own ideas and run with them. He guided me and was a sounding board. I’m a much better leader because of him.

How to help women in business advance
My experience with my first mentor inspired me to give back – to provide the guidance I didn’t get earlier in my career, and to use my experiences to help other women, in different fields and at all different levels, trust their own ideas and build confidence in their own careers — in other words, to be a mentor. I’m passionate about mentoring women at all stages of their careers, and in particular I love mentoring junior women in business in order to show women there’s a path to success and leadership in many different roles.

Congrats to Jennifer and all the other Influential Women recognized for their passion and their leadership, both within their organizations and within their communities!
